Single consultant for UNEP. Mid-term Evaluation of the ACP-EU Water Facility supported project on “Improving Water Management and Governance in African Countries through Support in Development and Implementation of IWRM Plans“. The project is implemented in 7 West-African countries by UNEP/DHI.

Team member in a team under Professional Management  for Sida. Had responsibility for environmental aspects of a “Systems-based and effectiveness audit of the Stockholm Environment Institute, SEI“.

Two single-persons consultancy assignments for the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, UNCCD on a Resource Mibilizarion Strategy for the UNCCD Secretariat, and A UN Operational Framework for Convergence in the Delivery of the UNCCD 10 Year Strategy.

Early 2007

As single consultant for Sida developed a Framework-initiative for Climate-related Sida activities in Partner Countries, which should have been implemented as part of a Swedish Environmental Development Support initiated in 2007.

Member of a team of evaluators for Sida/UTV who evaluated “The Sida/SAREC support to international and regional thematic research work”. Responsible for evaluating the support to the environment sector, including coastal zone management and forestry.

Team leader for the second phase of a World Bank/Africa Section project to produce a “Cost-Benefit Framework for Sustainable Land Management in Ghana and Ethiopia”. This phase aimed at a GEF/Medium Size Project.

Team leader for the first phase World Bank/Africa Section project under which we provided “Support to the World Bank Sustainable Land Management Product Line to develop a methodology for African countries to assess the economic costs of land degradation and the benefits of sustainable land management”.

Member of a two person-team contracted by Sida/SAREC who performed an “Evaluation of the Sida-supported “Asian Regional Research Programme in Energy, Environment and Climate (ARRPEEC) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand”.

Team leader for a SIWI-team and also sub-consultant to SIWI for a project financed by the European Parliament, Directorate General for Research on “Water and Development in the Developing Countries”. The study aimed at proposing recommendations to the European Parliament in its work with EU on these issues.

Assigned by GEF/UNDP, GEF/UNEP and by GEF/World Bank to do GEF STAP reviews of International Waters’ projects:

  • In 1997 a review of the GEF/UNDP Tumen River SAP project,
  • In early 2001 of the first phase of the GEF/UNDP project to strengthening implementation capacities for nutrient reduction and transboundary cooperation in the Danube River Basin,
  • In September 2001 the review of the GEF/World Bank Senegal River project,
  • In early 2003 the initial and the final technical STAP review of the GEF/UNDP Niger project and the final technical STAP review of the GEF/UNDP Danube project, both presented for the GEF Council in May 2003,
  • In August 2003 the review of the GEF/World Bank Hai Basin project,
  • During early 2005 the GEF/STAP review of a project in Fouta Djallon, West Africa for GEF/UNEP, and
  • In 2006 a project in Kagera River Basin, part of the Nile River Basin for GEF/UNEP.
  • In 2006 engaged by GEF/UNEP as consultant on a Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis for the Amur River basin in Russia/ China/ Mongolia, a project that should have been reshaped and restarted late 2007.
